Are you experiencing challenges with something in your life but you don’t know where to turn? Below is a list of hotlines, websites and support groups that you can contact to get help for yourself or a loved one related to alcoholism, domestic violence, drug abuse, local community services, mental health, traumatic events/natural disasters and suicide prevention.**Remember, if you are in crisis or considering suicide, or if you or someone you know is currently in danger, please call 911 immediately.**
Alcoholism/alcohol abuse
- Alcoholics Anonymous
A group of recovering alcoholics who meet regularly to help each other stay sober. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem. - American Addiction Centers, DrugAbuse.com
Provides detailed information about substance use support groups for the individual and their family members – the types of groups that are available, benefits of joining and frequently asked questions – as well as links to find a group near you.
Community services
- Aunt Bertha
Search for free or reduced-cost services like medical care, food, job training and more.
- National Domestic Violence hotline, (800)799-7233 or (800)787-3224 (TTY)
Operates around the clock, seven days a week, confidential and free of cost. Provides lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable victims to find safety and live lives free of abuse. - National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
Provides resources for victims of domestic violence.
- Narcotics Anonymous
A group of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. Membership is open to anyone for whom drugs has become a major problem and who have a desire to stop using. - American Addiction Centers, DrugAbuse.com

- Mental Health America (MHA)
Offers a resource page that includes links to local MHA support groups as well as a comprehensive listing of national support groups, other helpful resources and national, toll-free 24-hour hotlines on a variety of topics. - National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Helpline, (800)950-6264
Helpline operates Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Eastern. Dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Offers support groups nationwide.

Provides tip sheet resources and direct links to various topics on Ready.gov to help prepare/respond to many different crisis situations. - American Red Cross
Delivers vital services – from providing relief and support to those in crisis, to helping you be prepared to respond in emergencies. Includes links to find local shelters and other resources.
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, (800)273-8255
Provides free, confidential, 24/7 support for people in distress and prevention and crisis resources for individuals and their loved ones. - American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to individuals affected by suicide.
